Students of all nationalities may apply, given the right credentials; and degree equivalency for past studies, admission is granted on a flexible basis.

Application Process:-

A student should choose which program needs to be pursued and then the concerned institute needs to be applied to. The application form should contain all the necessary details asked by the university. Once the criterion is met then the student will receive a letter of acceptance by the institute. The decision on whether to accept an applicant rests with the institutions themselves.
Once the student accepts the acceptance letter the visa formalities have to be completed.

Visa Process:-
Students from EU and Nordic countries are not required to apply for a visa or residence permit, they only have to register with the Swedish Migration on arrival.
For students from other foreign countries a visa is required for entering Sweden for a course which is less than 3 months of duration. A residence permit with a validity of one year is required for students when the course duration is more than 3 months.

Documents that are required to be submitted for Swedish Student Visa:-

  • A copy of valid passport showing the identity of the student.
  • A certificate showing that the student is enrolled for the full time study.
  • A certificates showing that the student has comprehensive health insurance that is valid in Sweden.
  • A certificate from a bank confirming that student have enough fund to support their stay in Sweden or the necessary documents that show that student have received a scholarship, study grant or any other type of financial aid.

Upon submitting the application candidates are also required to submit a copy of their passport. Original passports would only be required for authentication. The embassy has the reserve right for asking any other authentication. Incomplete applications would not be accepted .Visa processing takes about three weeks. All regulations consular fees or services are subject to change without any prior notice.

Cost of Study in Sweden, Living Costs, Tuition Fees For Studying in Sweden:
Tuition and application fees: - Until now Sweden universities and institutes do not charge any tuition fees. Now, The Government like other European countries is going to allow the institutes to impose a fee structure at their own discretion. This will be for the entire course. The maximum a Master’s program would cost SEK 100,000 per year. The other programs would charge much lesser.

The cost of living in Sweden will be approx. SEK 7,500 per month.
Scholarships are also available for students. The Swedish Institution disburses many of these to needful and competent students. Additional Swedish Universities also offer scholarships for students who are non EU and EU nationals. 
In case of free paying students the university that accepts the candidate provides free insurance at the time of enrollment. Furthermore if the study program is more than a year the health benefits offered to Swede nationals are also applicable to international students. 
In addition to fee and health insurance there living expense constitute a very important part of study. In this respect it is advisable that the student keeps aside a monthly burse of SEK 7300 or more for various expenses includes personal ones.  There is also need to maintain a certain sum of money as this an important requirement for applying for residence permit. 

Study in Sweden Scholarships, Scholarships for Studying in Sweden, Study in Sweden with Scholarship:

Sweden, is one of the few countries in Europe which provide free education to students of any nationality. However, from the year 2011, the Swedish government has decided to fund education institutions which have been giving rise to excellent students.

From 2011, two scholarship programs will be started to fund students one from countries with which Sweden has good ties like Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia and Zambia. Another scholarship program will be administered by universities directly and is open to all students from outside the EU/EEA.

This will give qualified students who lack the appropriate funding the continued opportunity to study in Sweden. Additionally, foreign students subject to fees would be fully insured through the national health care system.
