Admission Requirements for Study in Russia, Russian Universities, Eligibility Criteria, Application Process, Procedure for Study in Russia-
Following is the eligibility criteria for Study in Russia for MBA, engineering, bachelors, masters and Ph.D. programs for getting admission into Russian universities:
Eligibility:-

Candidates for admission to Russian higher educational institutions are supposed to have the educational level equivalent to the complete secondary education in Russia. Their results on basic subjects in Maturity Degree are expected to be not less than 80 per cent of the highest marks level. On the other subjects candidates are also supposed to have good marks.

The gap between the time of graduating from school, college or technical college and the time of entering any of the higher educational institutions of Russia should not exceed 3 years. It is preferable that the age of candidates for admission doesn't exceed 27 years.

Those candidates who have Master's Degree in Science/Arts can be admitted to the post-graduate course of study in the Russian higher educational institutions. Their age should preferably not exceed 35 years.

It is mandatory for all candidates to undergo the medical examination including HIV Blood Test, and a certificate indicating that their health permits them to stay in Russia. In case a candidate is found with any health condition while studying in the Russian Federation, he/she will have to leave Russia, provided that the travel expenses are paid by the sending Side.

Admission Process:-

Each candidate for admission to the Russian higher educational institutions should submit the following documents to the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation through the Russian Embassy. The following documents in English, should be included in the applicants personal file:

1. An Application Form specifying the specialty selected.
 
2. Duly certified copy of Educational Certificate/Diploma, marks on each subject indicated.

3. A Health Certificate issued by the officially authorized Medical Bodies of the RSA.

4. The Result of HIV Blood Test duly certified by the relevant official Medical Bodies of the RSA.

5. A certified true copy of the Birth Certificate.

6. Six (6) passport size photos (4X6).


The candidates for admission to the post-graduate course of study are to submit the duly certified copies of their Master's degree Diploma (in Science or in Arts) together with the Full Record of subjects studied, marks on each subject indicated.
 
Student Visa Russia, Students Visa Requirements for Study in Russia: Application Form, Process Procedure for Study in Russia Visa-
A Russian student visa is issued to a person who is intending to go to Russia for pursuing a course or study program in any Russian school, university or institution.

For a Student Visa, the following documents are required: -

  • A letter of Invitation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or its Regional Office (if the Region you are going to study in does not have Regional Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the invitation is issued by the University, Institute or College on its official letterhead signed by the rector and certified either by the Office for International Affairs of the local administration or by the local office of the Ministry of Interior).
  • The candidate’s current diploma or educational certificate, certified by the State or Federal authorities
  • General health certificate of the candidate on his/her current health condition (must be certified by Apostil at the local office of Secretary of State and translated into Russian, then certified by the Consulate)
  • copy of HIV test certificate (must be certified by Apostil at the local office of the Secretary of  State and translated into Russian, then certified by the Consulate)
  • A confirmation of the payment arrangement directly from the University, Institute or College the student is going to study at.
  • The original passport of the candidate with at least 2 clean, side by side pages to attach the visa to. The passport must be valid for up to 6 months AFTER planned departure from Russia.
  • 2 signed and dated Visa Application Forms
  • Two identical passport size (on white background) photos. With name written on the back of the photos.
  • Payment by money order or cashier's check made out to the Russian Consulate in accordance with local Consulate's fees. No cash payments are accepted.
  • Pre-paid self-addressed return envelope from a reliable delivery company.

Cost of Study in Russia, Living Costs, Tuition Fees For Studying in Russia:
Cost of Living &Tuition-

The cost of living in Russia depends on which city one lives in. However, the minimum cost of living for a month is estimated to around USD 325 to USD 425.This includes accommodation, food, entertainment and travel.

State higher education institutions offer courses which are free of charge for Russian citizens and courses for which tuition fees are charged.

Foreign students not receiving a Russian Federation state scholarship are required to pay tuition fees of approx. USD 350 per month. Since tuition fees will vary from one institution to the other and from one program to the other, interested students are advised to contact the Admission Department of every institution for the necessary details.
Study in Russia Scholarships, Scholarships for Studying in Russia, Study in Russia with Scholarship:
There are various types of scholarships in Russia the ones funded by the Government and the other funded by the Study Abroad organizations.

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships offers funding of up to up to $7,000 for under graduates students.

The David L. Boren Scholarships offers funding of approx. $26,000 to under graduate students as well as to graduate students.

The AIFS Study Abroad Scholarships fund many students for an amount of  $1,000 and $2,000 to many students in a given academic year.

Diversity Scholarships are handed out to those applicants underrepresented in an international study program either due to economic, social or other challenges. These cover the full complement of required costs for the program including travel expenses.

Three Minority Scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each are also given.

The School for International Training (SIT) is another large-scale study abroad provider with many innovative programs located throughout the international community. SIT Fund disburses the largest number of scholarships based on a combination of academic merit and financial need.

Diversity Fund scholarships go to those students who are most underrepresented in a study abroad program whether due to social or economic challenges.

HBCU Fund awards go to eligible participants whose home institution is one of the Historically Black Colleges.

Sally Bragg Baker Fund rewards an outstanding female participant. Recipients must demonstrate exceptional commitment to peace studies and cultural exchange.

Overseas Russian Flagship Program is designed to fund the studies to advanced level students and professionals in deeper studies on location in St. Petersburg.

Title VIII Research Scholar Program provides generous monetary assistance to students at a graduate level or higher. Research projects must be well defined and require between three and nine months in Russia. Title VIII Combined Research and Language Training Program is as the name suggests.
