Admission Requirements for Study in Germany, German Universities, Eligibility Criteria, Application Process, Procedure for Study in Germany-
Following is the eligibility criteria for Study in Germany for MBA, engineering, bachelors, masters and PhD programs for getting admission into German universities:
For undergraduate programs the international students must have -

  • Completed a “bridge program” of 1 year duration. After this the student has to pass an assessment test for a Bachelor’s degree. Some countries have entrance examinations which are recognized by German institutes. Candidates having cleared these examinations can get an exemption for the assessment test. A student should have completed two years of undergraduate studies.

For admission to post graduate programs a student must have

  • Completed a four year bachelor’s degree program. Few institutions consider three year bachelor’s degree for admission as well.
  • For management courses a student has to have a good GMAT score and for Engineering the GRE scores are considered.

 For Ph. D courses a student needs to have a Master's Degree.

  • A student’s English speaking ability is judged on the basis of the TOEFL scores.

Admission Procedure:-
In Germany a student has to get registered with Different authorities:

Your first stop should be the Resident Registration Bureau .Anyone who plans on staying in Germany for more than three months has to register their permanent address within one week. You'll need a copy of the rental agreement or other documented proof of where you're living. If you move, you have one week to register your new address. It is important to find out exactly where your Resident Registration Bureau is located. Its location within the city administration varies from city to city. The International Relations Office at your university can tell you more.

The Foreigners' Affairs Office is the next stop for students or guest researchers in Germany. This is where you apply for a residence permit. Don't forget that you have to do this in person. Students also have to prove that they can support themselves financially. This means they will have to have at least 500 euro at their disposal each month.

Approval is assured if the following documents are in order:

- Valid visa (for non-EU students)
- Completed application form (available at the university's Office for International Affairs)
- Valid passport
- Proof of health insurance
- Copy of rental agreement or letter from landlord
- Three (3) passport-size photos
- In some cases you'll need to show that you've had a physical examination

Residence permits for students are valid for one year and have to be renewed every year.

For a German student visa, the applicant has to approach the German Embassy or the Consulate General in their respective home country with the following documents:

  • A valid Passport
  • A confirmation or admission letter from the university which acts as a proof that the candidate is a study abroad student.
  • Documents to indicate the source of finance required to study in Germany.

Candidates are also requested to submit two set of documents along with the photocopies. Additional documents need to be submitted along with the above mentioned articles.  In terms of the passport requirement the passport should have been issued and not extended in the last ten years. At the same time the passport should have a complete validity and illegible data will not be accepted. At the same time study Visas are valid to the duration of study. 
The Visa fees are subject to change. Applicants need to pay the visa fees by demand draft. The demand draft should be made in favor of Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in the province and should not be older than two months.
In terms of financial standings applicants are required to submit two documents that verify or certify their financial standing:
Confirmation of scholarship or stipend received by the applicant;
Formal letter of sponsorship from a sponsor living in Germany.
Declaration of Authenticity- This is necessary as it certifies that all documents duly submitted by the applicant are authentic and genuine. Knowingly providing information that is false may result in the cancellation of visa and the individual be deported from the country. 

Cost of Studying in Germany, Living Costs, Tuition Fees For Study in Germany:
Accommodation, food, leisure, utility bills, transport, etc…sums up to approx. EUR 12000 per year, depending on where and how you choose to live. Living in the eastern part of Germany can be a little cheaper.

In Germany whether a student is from the EU or not the enrollment fees is EUR1000 per year to an institute. The cost of tuition is EUR 700 approx. per year.

The amount of money paid out through a scholarship is usually calculated to cover normal living expenses. Even if the sum may at first appear high to someone living outside of Germany, you shouldn't forget that the cost of living is high in Germany, and it's very likely that there won't be a lot of money left at the end of the month. Also, if the person receiving the scholarship takes on a part time job they have to report this to the organization providing the scholarship. And that organization will then usually subtract the amount earned from the grant.
